How It’s Made: Sugar
It’s estimated that there are more than 5 million sugar granules in a standard 1kg bag of sugar! In a basic definition, sugar is a carbohydrate belonging to a class of chemically-related sweet-flavored elements. It comes in a range of different forms; the main three are sucrose, lactose, and fructose. In Britain alone, over 10 million tonnes of sugar are consumed each year, and about 50% of that sugar is created in the UK.
