A Renewed Interest in Auctions

But auctions in general have seen a recent spike in popularity, buoyed in part thanks to television shows like A&E’s Storage Wars. If you haven’t seen the program, auctioneers go from one storage facility to the next, auctioning off storage units that have been abandoned or are in arrears. Part of the excitement stems from the rule that the bidders aren’t allowed to dig through the lockers beforehand — they have five minutes to look at it from the outside and decide whether or not there might be buried treasure within.
