Did you know that EquipNet facilitates equipment donations as a surplus asset solution? It’s true! We work with our project
partners to help you reduce risks and maximize the impact of your donation.
Below are se
ven steps to help you develop a safe and successful donations strategy.
1. Identify appropriate donation items Bear in mind that equipment often requires items such as peripherals, manuals, etc. Be sure to take this into account in the planning process.
2. Test the equipment Make sure all equipment for potential donation is in good working condition, i.e., no missing parts, equipment functions and performs as intended.
3. Include all the necessary items Ensure any required manuals, software, hardware, and any peripherals are identified and included with donated equipment.
4. Clean and decontaminate the equipment Ensure the equipment is clean and decontaminated. Involve Environmental Health and Safety and include any documentation/certifications with your donation.
5. Complete the paperwork Complete any other necessary paperwork required by your organization and the partner organization.
6. Pack your donated equipment Plan ahead for packing. Be sure to think about packing methods, appropriate-sized containers, and packing materials. Label cartons clearly.
